Bread Making
This was what I would call a lazy project. However, the payout was great! Bread making (especially in a bread machine) is well worth your time. I was given my bread machine as a gift, and though I don't use it regularly, I love using it to make loaves for friends and family for gifts or just because. This month, I had a lot of girlfriends who brought new littles into this world- and a loaf in the freezer is never a bad thing to have while at home with a newborn. The only downside I found, was that for my family in particular who doesn't necessarily eat bread everyday, making a loaf was best done when I knew we would have company, or if I planned to freeze in smaller portions and use later. Due to this being a freshly made loaf with zero preservatives mould set in a lot quicker than store bought. This of course is an overall good thing health wise, but also can be a waste of food if you are unaware of this fact.
The recipes I used were all from my bread makers instruction manual. The only loaf I didn't make in the bread machine was a Sunset Gourmet beer bread mix... also highly recommended. Below is the list of recipes I made as per my Cuisinart Breadmaker manual.
Basic Bread
Cinnamon Bread
Lemon Cranberry loaf (replaced poppyseed with cranberries as I couldn't seem to find any in the store)
French Bread
Sunset Gourmet Beer Bread
For anyone looking to make bread regularly I have found having these 5 items in my pantry at all times makes it a lot easier to simply wake up one day and think " I'm going to make bread today" and very rarely would I then have to make a trip to the grocery store ahead of time. Unless you are planning on making a specialty type of bread like the lemon loaf, which required buttermilk or a three cheese bread which will require cheeses that you may not always have on hand.
1. bread flour
2. dry milk
3. butter
4. dry active yeast (can be stored in your pantry until opened, then must be refrigerated)
5. salt
