Kids Crafts with Glue
All of my projects this month were focused on crafts that I could do with my toddler and glue. The gallery showcases these 4 projects that we did together, and includes the links to my inspiration for the crafts and any recipes that were available to me.
1. Glue and Salt spiderweb craft: This was a bit of a fail on my part, but as with most things, my toddler does not notice that, only that we got to try something new. I was not paying a lot of attention to the instructions, so inevitably things didn't go exactly to plan. So if you try this craft I will highlight some important things to success. 1. let the glue and salt dry thoroughly before painting and 2. A water based paint works best and makes the coolest effects for you. For the first reason, this is not an ideal craft for a toddler (or me clearly) as it is a 2 day or all day wait for completion. We need instant gratification over here haha!
2. Puffy Paint: This was super cool! I definitely recommend giving this a try, again just for a little twist on the regular old painting, gets the kids excited for something new. And depending on the shaving cream you use, it gives your painting a nice scent as well haha.
3. Glue slime: This was our top craft of the month. It was the best result from the recipe and is the only thing that can be reused. I used a blue food colouring which transfers to your hands a little bit every time you play with it, so the only thing I would change is next time I will leave it white- just as fun! But I highly recommend this one for all littles! Side note to the recipe: I specifically used 4 oz of Elmers white glue instead of glitter glue, but use whichever you prefer or have around the house.
4. A literal Mod Podge of things on a canvas to celebrate St Patrick's Day. This craft was just thrown together in 5 minutes. But it was a great activity! I got as many green things as a could from the craft room, a canvas and mod podge and let Kit go to town with a paint brush and apply things to the canvas. He really wanted to colour it however, so after the glue dried a let him colour it with a green marker to finish it off.
