Video and photo backup

Burning... to Storage

My major project for this month was to back up all of my videos and photos onto DVD. As you may have guessed this did not get completed. This is a MAJOR job! The job itself is simple, but due to mishaps that inevitably happen (technology can be finicky) I was only able to get a small portion of this done. Nevertheless I have started- and I will slowly pick away at this until it is completed. I ended up getting all of our videos from before kids (high school up to and including our wedding and moving out to Portage) all onto DVD and labelled.

Supplies needed is also minimal: writable burnable DVD's (I used 4.7 GB) and a sharpie to label.

I created a desktop folder to burn the items from. So I would move files into here until the 4.7 GB capacity was taken up and then click "burn to DVD". I also bought 2 zip up 60 capacity DVD cases (one for photos and one for videos) to store everything in once easy access place.

Maternity Photoshoot

My second project this month was to do a photo session for someone. Timing worked out- and I was able to take my sister-in-laws maternity photos. She is expecting her first child in March so these photos were taken around week 35. I am very thankful to them for trusting me to take photos of such an important time in their lives, as I have zero training, only maybe a natural eye and a little practice just on my own. My camera is a huge help (Canon EOS 70D) even simply pointing and shooting your photo comes out sharp. I used a second camera (Canon DSLR) which had a portrait lens on and a flash buffer. This was helpful as inside photography is hard for me in managing the flash and getting the right lighting.

In this session I made sure to get lots of photos of Jacquie by herself, and a lot of the belly of course! I used 3 staging areas: 1. couch/living room 2. nursery 3. outside and I took photos of Jacquie by herself and of the two fo them in each location. I used pinterest for inspiration and for posing ideas and only used a couple of props. 1. a toy firetruck 2. a bedtime storybook they had bought on a trip to disney world. Jacquie had 3 outfits (one being jacket and hat for outside). I've picked out a few of my favourites and included them in the gallery below (these are completely unedited FYI). I hope you enjoy- and seriously these guys are so cute and I am so excited for them to meet this little dude!
